Open Door Performance is live!

Welcome to Open Door Performance!

As the founder of Open Door Performance, I spent a long time working out what would make my consultancy stand apart, what made us different and what would be our focus to ensure we could get the results for our clients. Figuring out your unique selling point is always tricky and creating something that makes you get up in the morning and do your best work in a relatively saturated market can be challenging.

As a trained Business Psychologist and coach, working within HR for many years, I would always come back to the notion that if the environment and staff aren’t happy, then there would be a knock-on effect on productivity and performance, which always impacts the bottom line. With the introduction of hybrid working and some working completely remote, identifying and spotting unhappy, disengaged and unproductive staff can become even more difficult.

To ensure organisations can create a happy and thriving workplace to hit that bottom line requires proactivity. Solely focusing on strategy, tactics and systems without considering the importance of psychology can hinder a business from progressing.

This all comes down to an investment in wellbeing and leadership development. This is where business psychologists and coaches can add value. When we talk about wellbeing at work, we focus on ensuring employees can bring their whole and best selves to work and have the tools, resources and support to achieve this. This can look like wellbeing coaching, wellness sessions or employee development sessions alongside robust strategies and initiatives.

Driving wellbeing into the culture of an organisation requires leaders’ buy-in and is one of the most important factors to any change. Without this buy-in very little happens underneath. Leaders who take charge of their wellbeing and development create a culture where it is okay to be vulnerable and ask for help. Leadership development can also be critical for big picture thinking, allowing leaders to take time out to drive the strategy of their organisation. It has become the norm to work with a coach or psychologist. Whether an athletes or a CEO like Bobby Axelrod in the TV show Billons, it is acceptable to utilise this support to really take charge of development and take those leadership skills to the next level.

For organisations that have highly engaged staff, who are performing exceptionally well and are hitting their targets, with low turnover, keep going. However, if your organisation has some room for improvement or is not where you want to be then it is important to dig below the surface to find out what is going on.

In a world where change now seems like the norm and younger generations are prioritising workplace culture and wellbeing over salary it is important to move with the times and accept that the notion of the old world of work doesn’t exist anymore.

All it could take is one conversation and an exploration into the work Open Door Performance can support you with. We strive to create bespoke solutions for every organisation and believe it important for organisations to be comfortable with the approach suggested. One size does not fit all and we ensure it is done right.
